No. 66 6th August 2007 Complacency

Complacency is the line coming from some investment managers and economic sources. As you know from the bitter experience of 2000 to 2002, the investment and opinion industries are unlikely to tell you why shares have much further to fall, or Gilts much further to rise.

The credit market crisis marks a fundamental turning point. The days of easy credit sweeping all before it are OVER. The new theme will be lack of credit. Lack of credit means that economic activity must deteriorate.

Sooner or later, probably this month, share prices will stabilise and rise a little. This will be the last chance to sell while prices are high. Our advice is: grab it.
